Ottawa, Canada, November 16, 2008 - Canadian and Brazilian ex-PYs living in the Ottawa area organized an informal SWY gathering on November 16. In an effort to exchange more views on the importance of SWY Program in their lives and the significance of enhancing more educational and cultural exchanges abroad, Ex-PYs discussed shared past experiences and updated the news on everyone’s lives. The following Ex-PYs participated in this meeting: Angela Dawson (SWY 13 - Canada), Laura Sie (SWY 17 - Canada), Erica Bach (SWY 19 – Canada), Meaghan Farquharson (SWY 19 - Canada), John Burgener (SWY 11 - Canada), and Jean Roberth Souza (SWY 07 – Brazil).
“Yes, there is life after the SWY Program,” explain John Burgener, Angela Dawson and Laura Sie who organized the SWY gathering in Ottawa. “We encourage other ex-PYs to do the same no matter where you are. This is a continuing opportunity to advance international understanding and intercultural success through personal contacts with other Ex-PYs from different batches while developing relationships for fellowship and future projects”, they add.
